UK RIOTS WAKE-UP CALL TO CHURCHES

***The UK Riots an Urgent  Wake-up Call to our Churches To Evangelize  Our Communities and Cities***

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." Mark 16:15

" Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
" Matthew 5:14-16

"And he called his ten servants, and delivered them ten pounds, and said unto them, Occupy till I come."Luke 19:13

Dear Pastor

These are some of the graphic and disturbing images we saw a month ago in our cities in the UK. Young people and even grown-ups rioting and looting, burning and damaging property and murdering people. Our society is sick, desperate and in need of God's saving power through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Our cities and our society need us the Church. YOUR CITY NEEDS YOU TO EVANLGEISE IT AND PRESERVE IT FROM MORAL, SOCIAL AND POLITICAL ANARCHY AND DECAY. It is with great regret that we have witnessed the recent terrible riots and events in our cities. As an evangelist I am shocked but also awakened to the fact that we as Christians and Churches desperately need to have a greater impact on our cities and society and change it for the good. I sincerely believe that this is  a wake up call for the Church to get back to the major issue of Evangelism and seeking and saving the lost. Many of the capital cities of our nation have been devastated by the riots and the damaged buildings are a visible reminder to us for many months and years to come of the fact that our Churches need us to get involved and help transform them by the Power of God through the Gospel. For many years my ministry has been  trying to get the Church to evangelize their communities and do something about it before it is too late. Over the last 3 years I have contacted hundreds of churches about Evangelism Training and the need to get involved in the community and transform it for the glory of God. Sadly I have received very ittle response, with only a small percentage of Pastors being interested in Evangelism. I have written a booklet entitled "The Cost to the Church of Neglecting the Great Commission" and in it I highlighted the fact that the moral and social decay that we have seen in the riots would inevitably happen if the Churches do not do their part in Evangelism and praying for their communities.

What the Riots are saying to us as a Church

The riots are speaking to the Churches and God will use them to awaken his Church to the priority of Evangelism. The message is clear - EVANGELISE, SEEK AND SAVE THE LOST BEFORE  OUR SOCIETY SELF DESTRUCTS! We have witnessed the helplessness of the police and government to contain the situation. Why?  because the only real change will come about when we the church change the hearts and minds of our communities through evangelism and the Gospel, when we pray and get involved in helping our communities to change for the better. We the Church have the answer to society's problems, the transforming power of Jesus Christ in the Gospel. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to all who believe (Romans 1:16-17). It not only transforms individuals, it transforms communities, cities and nations. The great revival under Wesley and Whitefield transformed Britain, a nation that then was in moral, spiritual and political decay and almost anarchy. Yet through their faithful preaching, God broke out and transformed England and saved it from revolution. We need to understand as Churches that we have been given the divine mandate to change our society for the better and this can only come about when we Evangelize it. Our young people are being driven by Satan and the forces of darkness to do the things we have seen on our TV screens and witnessed on the streets. They need Salvation, they need hope they need a future. Society is unable to give them these, but  we know the person who can. Our God and savior can take young lives and give them a hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). However many of them are now already in prison. We can still rescue them and save a generation from the hands of  the enemy if we will evangelize to them! The cry of God's heart through the prophet Isaiah many thousands years ago is being heard through the riots we have witnessed: "Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?" Isaiah 6:8.

It is time we got back to the reason we are Christians, ministers and Churches, and it is not less than the mission of the Master himself: " For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost" Luke 19:10. Let this be our mandate and motive in this time of turmoil in our land so that we can stand on the day of judgement echoing the words of the apostle Paul: "Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men" Acts 20:26.
